Hey everyone today I recieved my gc and it contains an error the country of birth is wrong i call uscis and to rais an sr en expidite the new green card and was told we would recieve a letter within the next 2 weeks on what they need to sort the error and if any new bio metrics are needed. Also i cant get a state id because my place of birth is wrong i never recieved a ead card so this is frustrating beyond belief as we have waited this long for en erroneous card. Has anyone been thru this how long aprox does it take??? I called my lawyer he said it could take up to 3 months or more im very des heartened that this has occured

LOL! Congo? They plan on sending you to Africa should u be deported.
All jokes aside, I think it's definitely an error on their part because with this specimen card it displays Congo. I think that's the computerized draft that they must fill in whenever issuing GC or EAD.

The sad thing is that the SSA are very meticulous because you could have just gotten your SSN and apply for a state ID and use it until the GC is corrected but the SSA are very meticulous. If I were in your postion I would do an infopass and ask what your options are while you wait because you need to start your life.Filed I-130, I130A, I-485, I-765

I would make an infopass appointment, and get the I-551 stamp on your passport. Still follow through with the NBC on the process to get the card replaced, but in the mean time, you can continue to live your life as a permanent resident with the I-551 stamp.
