Hi ,
I'm trying to get a sense of how AOS timelines work for different types of adjustment cases. I understand that family and employment based AOS cases are different because of visa-availability, the nature of the AOS request, and forms that need to be filled (for instance I-130 vs I-140).
However, is there any difference between the cases once it's been cleared from the NBC and forwarded to the field office--i.e. it's first-in-first-out regardless if its family or employment, or one type gets scheduled faster than the other.
I'm asking because USCIS timelines have a general range, and at the bottom of the page they provide the range separately for family and employment (in NYC, the family based cases seem to take way longer). My understanding is that once the case is in line for the field office, it doesn't matter, but hoping to hear what other people have to say.
