  • Required Vaccines???

So I went for my medical exam and blood work about a week ago and today I got a call from the doctors office saying I need a MMR shot and a Hep B shot. I checked my vaccine record and saw that I had three Hepatitis B shots when I was younger and two MMR shots, all of the slots for those vaccines are filled in.....anyone know how many are required or why they're requesting me to have those shots? Could it have been something that showed up in my blood test?

probably its because you need a booster, so they ask you to have it again. Your blood test should show what you have and don't have.

I found the table found here really helpful: https://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugee...licant-Age.pdf

Hepatitis B shots are only required through 18 years old. Do you have vaccination records to prove you already received MMR?

My vaccination record shows that I received two MMR shots, one when I was 6 years old and one when I was 10.

Regarding Hepatitis B, I received one when I was 6 years old, one when I was 9 and another when I was 10.

Edit: I am now 27 years old.

So I went in to get the shots and was told my blood work showed that I wasn't immune to those diseases.....so I needed to get them even though my vaccine record states I did get those shots.

My husband had a similar experience with MMR, so I think that makes sense. I would just question if you really need the Hepatitis B shot or not. You'd hope that any USCIS Dr. is well versed in the requirements, but I can't help but think that sometimes they are just trying to make extra $$. Just my opinion. Good luck!

              Hep B not age appropriate

Like others have noted, Hep B is not age appropriate for someone your age, and is not required. That being said, this doctor may require it or otherwise he will not sign your I-693, unless you are able to convince him he is wrong.
