  • USCIS case received VS case accepted/denied

We sent our AOS form in last week and last night my husband got a notification on his phone that they received our application. The message says "USCIS: Your case was received. Receipt # xxxxxxxxxxx. Official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) to follow in mail". When i entered the receipt number on the USCIS website it just shows that they received our case. It doesn't say whether they accepted it or denied it. My question is: Will we get another notification stating whether or not they will accept our application or deny it (say if it's not filled out correctly or something like that), and if so how long after they receive it do they usually send this notice?

They will issue RFE/RFIE if something is wrong with the application or the evidence provided is inadequate. Accept or deny usually doesn't happen until the very end and happens mostly after an interview. Lot of people here have also gone without their I-130 being accepted even after getting their green card. You can create an account online and follow the status updates on your cases.
