  • Who should file I-130A? Me or my USC spouse?

    Hi everyone,
So I just got the yellow RFIE yellow letter. Apparently, USCIS wants us to file I-130A. The form is pretty straightforward but I'm wondering whose information (me or USC spouse) are we supposed to fill it out with? My guess is my info, because letter says to "submit a completed and signed form I-130A, from the spouse beneficiary, (my name)"; is that correct?
Also, any ideas why we need this form? Cause all the information in it can be found in our I-485/I-130...
    Thank you,
AOS from F1, spouse of USC - Seattle, WA

    Thank you,

The I-130A is to be filed by the beneficiary, which means you, the spouse of USC. It?s supplemental information.

          Thank you,
Hi. On both the I-130 page on USCIS website, and on the first page of the I-130 instructions is clearly states "If you are filing for your spouse, he or she must complete and sign Form I-130A, Supplemental Information for
Spouse Beneficiary...Form I-130A must be submitted with Form I-130."

It's pretty clear that it is required, so no surprise there, and the form is titled "Supplemental Information for Spouse Beneficiary", so its very clear that the spouse beneficiary's information is what is being requested by the title of the form, and in all the instructions. The information requested on I-130A cannot be found in your I-130 (some of this information is also on I-485, but the office that processes your I-130 doesn't look at the I-485, which is processed by your local office, so that is why the office that process I-130 needs the additional information found on I-130A). For instance: Employment History (not just current employment found on I-130), Address History (not just current address found on I-130), and Information about Spouse Beneficiary's parents.
