This is the only way you can roam around freely. BTW, how long does it take to get the marriage certificate? Did you get married in the US (you have to!) I've seen in come in less than 2 days.

Depends on your state. If you reside the the same county, they mail it the next day and 1 day for USPS delivery. May be I live in a county that employs good workers

I suggest you go to the officer where you got your marriage license and find out if they have your marriage certificate there. Most probably they are waiting for you to collect it. It shouldn't take that long.
