No ceremony wedding - is that a Problem?

Okay! So, I am a Citizen. Me and BF did highschool togather and everything, dating since past 4 + years. I made 3 trips to India to see him when he was there. Now he is here since past 2 years on H1B and we have been living together since! However, parents dont approve of our wedding so traditional indian wedding is not happening . Now, if we get married here, registered, would that be a problem for him getting greencard? I have heard that they need an arsenal of proofs during the interview to show the marriage is legit!

Inputs please.....Suggestions please...gotta do this one right ...

Over the years, immigration officers have become acquainted with the traditions, customs and traits of different cultures pretty much from all over the world. They have the experience and expertise to determine the legibility of a genuine marriage. As a fact of the matter, just like basic human nature, eyebrows are raised when people from two different backgrounds tie the knots together.Questions could be raised based on numerous aspects of the relationship, like time living together, how long been married, any assets together, any children. Approval by parents may be questioned, but if you can prove your love together, I am sure that should not be a problem. If your husband have no problem with his status in USA, then I think little wait before applying for AOS would be better. Each case is unique so one can not for sure determine the outcome. Each case is judge and approved on its merits. I hope his love is true and it is not to get around immigration laws.And it is for you to decide. You should know all the consequences before taking any steps. And please be advised I am not an attorney so my advice should not be considered as such!

Regardless of circumstances, all marriage based GC interviews are scrutinized and you have to prove you have a bona fide marriage. If you are a legit couple, it will come across in your interview, and vice versa.

many couples do not have the blessing of their in laws, regardless of culture creed or customs. I do not believe that will be a deciding factor in whether you get a GC for your man or not.

Yes it is true love, hence the 2 year wait...hoping parents would agree but they do not seem to budge. I went to india to do my highschool and we met there...so yes, i have high school certificates saying we went to same school. He was in india when i was in college here and I made trips to go see him during that time, so I have proof there! we have been staying together since past two years ( just did not marry) he is on H1B that expires sometime in 2012, and he has always been in status! everything is legitimate with us just want to make sure one thing does not ruin it all. I would like him to have a green card so we dont have to worry about economy and incase he looses his job. Thanks a lot for your help guys... I really appreciate it

Mariejm, its both set of parents, mine and his and that makes it worst! caste problem you see...

So I wont worry anymore... me & him are tight..the good forces have helped us till now and things have been great..so hopefully this should not be a big deal as well.
