  • Signing I-485 for my child

    Hello all,
I resently submitted AOS for me and my 3 kids. D youngest is under 14 years so I signed his I-485 as the "Preparer". However, it was rejected due to missing signature, can someone who has been through this share experience?

Where else should I sign, these forms can really be confusing. Your input would be immensely appreciated.

My guess is that you didn't sign Part 10 6.a Applicant's Signature. If you are signing for your child, you should sign there too (from what I read, they check if that is blank and reject the form without checking other parts of the form).

Now that the form was rejected, I don't know if you need to send it as a new application. The problem I see is the fee, $750 if filed with at least one of the parents and $1,140 if not filing with at least one of the parents. I hope you can just refile without the fee. Good luck.

        Thanks Candy and Enub4.

Candy: Did you sign and print Parent in the "Applicant" space? Secondly, did you also sign as preparer since the child is a minor? Just want to be sure if I have to sign in two different places.

Enub4: They acknowledge the fees, thanks for your input.
