I got an RFE from NBC yesterday. My status still says Fingerprint Fee was received.

Thought I would check in since its been awhile. Anyone have any updates for Newark field office? We have had no updates on our case for 2 months (when we finally received our EAD after almost 6 months). Initially our lawyer said we should have our green card in under a year, but not looking too hopeful right now.

I’m in the process of setting up my car with my lawyer. We should be ready to send everything in the next few weeks.

Relax, most cases don't update until the next big step (RFE, ready to schedule, EAD card in production, etc.)
It could take several months for the next update.
I remember that I checked several times a day for any update but now I know: that will not change the case.

My case dates are close to yours and my case recently progressed hence may help you to understand timelines.

(As about the officer visit it really depends how convincing your evidence were, If good but yet leaves VO with some douts then he/she would pay a visit before making a final call, getting common in/or I have heard of in: NJ, NC, Florida, Maine. Please pay attention that this visit is very crucial next step in your status depends on this visit).

December 10, 2018 : Case Was Received
January 8, 2019 : Fingerprint Review Was Completed
May 15, 2019 : Request for Initial Evidence Was Mailed
May 28, 2019: Response To USCIS' Request For Evidence Was Received
June 5, 2019 : Case Is Ready To Be Scheduled For An Interview
July 29, 2019 : Interview Was Scheduled
