Hello,
I had my interview today at Newark office so just wanted to share my experience if it helps anyone.
So, reached there 15m earlier along with our lawyer, waited for almost 45m to be called in by IO. The actual interview took almost 45m. IO was really friendly and nice. She greeted us, we took the oath and the questions started. Most of the questions were toward my spouse and the questions were like where did you two meet, when did you start dating, when did you become boyfriend and girlfriend, when did you get engaged, what did you study, was it an arrangement or love marriage, how many guests were there at the wedding, where did the wedding take place, have you two traveled together and where do you currently live. We took almost 80 pictures with us and she went through all of them and took out almost 10 of them. She then started questioning me about my job, where do I work, when did I first come to the US, what visa did I enter for the first time. And then some basic questions about my background and criminal history (like the ones on i485 application) and that's pretty much it. Our i130 is already approved therefore I think she didn't go into much details. She finally asked me when did I enter into the US for the last time and asked for i94, which I didn't have so i gave her my passport. She took a copy of it and followed us to the exit. She didn't tell us right after our interview but after 3 hours, got my notification that new card is being produced.
My piece of advice, don't try to hide anything from them, just give them to-the-point answers, no more no less, extra documentation does hurt but if you miss some document, it is just gonna prolong the process, and lastly, be on time.
This immigration process can be painful for many but patience is the key to get out of it. This forum has given me hope so I wish you all the very best of luck for your cases.

I had my interview +3 weeks ago went well only asked basic questions to me and my spouse and the officer said we should get an approval notice in a few weeks. Unfortunately still waiting, in the system my case has not even updated to "Interview Completed" it still shows as "ready to schedule for interview." Has anyone else had delays on the case status? I guess we are unlucky as most people I see are getting approved same day and their status changes.

MThe official was very unfriendly, we are a Gay couple and he seems little unconfortable and some moments he seems like homophobic person... when he talked to Us. he don't look to Us, just to the computer and the papers,, he directed 90% of the questions for my husband (US CItizen) and for me just ask some questions, like my spouse name, his date of birth and when was our wedding day. And thats all. After ask me a lot of questions like if I killed someone before or if I selled drugs. I ask him if he would like to see more documents, like our photos, documents of our rental home, mails, etc but he say that don't needed that. He only saw the last W-2 of my husband because we offer to him, but he don't got nothing.
After this, around 15 minutes at the end we were given a white paper, saying they are reviewing my case. and we need to wait a mail. Nothing more. He was very unfriendly, don't make Us feel confortable and was very direct ond the questions, like a Cop interrogating someone... weird.
Someone had before the same situation? I'm very nervours because I feeling like my case was denied or will delay to solve because I have no answer untill now. people say here tat received a message of the approvation or update the status after 30 minutes leave the USCIS Office. I'm very worried because my status don't changed yet, almost 5 hours later....
So, I just want to shared my horrible experience and I hope nobody's have the same like I had,
Let me know if someone know or had a white paper wth "they are reviewing the case"

Hey Newark NJ filers!
I had my interview today. We were in & out in 45 minutes. They only kept a few pictures & that was it. They flipped thru all our financial documents & leases but kept absolutely none. They took the Medical form. Most of the questions were directed at my spouse. I got asked like 4-5 questions. Very pleasant Immigration officer & made us feel comfortable to speak with them. At times laughing & was sympathetic.
I was told that everything looks good & if approved I would get a notification maybe 2 hours or more after I left OR if they need any additional documents they would send me a letter. Even though my spouse swears up & down they heard the Officer say I was approved!
They stated if I got approved: it would be a 2 year conditional greencard and to make sure that 9 months before it expires, I apply to have the conditions removed. I was also told that during those 2 years we needed to acquire documented proof of our marriage. They were very understanding that due to covid our finances suffered greatly.
At the end we were given a white paper, saying they are reviewing my case.
Furthermore, do NOT try to lie or finesse these people because trust me, they know about you before you even entered the door. Be honest in your responses: you will get a better response out of them.
I am thus happy with the whole interview. A lot of people were in and out within 15-20 minutes of the Officer calling them in.
I hope good news for myself and everyone soon.

Newark NJ Field Office
hey guys i had my interview today!!!!
the officer called us in
when we got in the office he asked us to swear in then told us to sit
he asked my husband and i our name
then he asked me my date of birth and address
then he asked me questions on my I485
he asked both of us how long we been together
he asked us to confirm that we are married more than 2 years
he asked what other documents i brought in
i gave him: joint accounts, lease with both of our names on it, life insurance policies on each other, pictures
he just flipped through them he took two joint accounts documents and gave us the others back
Surprisingly that is all was asked then he turned to his computer and started typing about after 2 minutes he said everything looks good and i have been approved!!!!!
my husband and i hugged each other
i then asked if it was conditional and he said no made me even more happier
After leaving the building approximately 15 mins after i received an email saying ' NEW CARD BEING PRODUCED'
In all the interview was really nice!!!
Good luck to all who are still waiting just have patience and trust the process

Sent in my renewal for combo card Nov.9th. Got a text they received it yesterday. Am playing it safe by sending in those documents early due to this pandemic & to file the renewal is free anyways. Hope everyone has been safe and healthy. Happy Holidays!

My status recently changed to "case is ready to be scheduled for an interview". I'm mentally prepared to wait another 4-6 month to get the actual interview date. I think too that they have a huge backlog from the last year.

Anybody recently had a status change of "interview ready to be scheduled" for Newark? How long before you got the notice and actual interview date?
Trying to figure out the time between that and actually getting an interview date in NJ, I suspect they are still backed up from last year.

Today I completed my interview in Newark NJ.
PD 07/08/2019....it was scheduled for 2pm but we didn’t get called in until hour and a half later. Our officer seemed a little strict in the beginning but then was cracking jokes later. We had a few laughs and he made us feel at ease. He said he can tell that our marriage is legit and would approve me on a spot but has to get it approved first. He told me we should have an answer within a week. So now I’ll just hope for the best because It seems to be the norm that people are told this same information and then wait weeks if not months after the interview. Really hope that is not the case but I am definitely happy to have the interview behind us!
