  • Does EAD renewal take as long as the original EAD?

It took me 8 months to get my EAD this year so Im just wondering if the renewing process is gonna take as long. If it does, I'll have to renew my EAD next month

From what I read, yes, it takes a lot of months to renew, that's why they send the NOA with an automatic extension of 180 days.
From what I read you can renew your EAD is it has 180 days or less until expiration date. So if your card is valid from 06/04/2019 until 06/03/2019, you can renew around 12/10/2019.
Nov 2018 - Package sent - EB - Texas Service Center
Day 1 - Package received at the lockbox
Day 999 - Card delivered to me - Aug 2021

I think I was lucky as I received the new card in the mailbox only one month after sending out the application for renewal.

No, since the renewal rule for EAD and AP are different, it's not the combo card. You can only renew AP 120 days before expiration while the EAD can be renewed before 180 days.
I didn't wanna wait and risk not having the card on time. The EAD is much more important, AP not so much.

Oh so it’s separate? And if you submit your renewal of advance parole, is it also automatically extended?

I can't find that info on USCIS website. Other sites say up to 180 days for EAD and up to 120 days for AP. Some old articles say up to 120 days for both.
