  • My green card Journey.

    Hello.
I’m posting this here to help anyone who might be in the process of obtaining their green card.

    filed from Atlanta, Georgi.

    I came here on F1.
    Overstayed for over 10 yrs.
married my US citizen husband mid 2017
Documents sent to USCIS in late Feb 2018
Got my EAD late July 2018
Interview in February 2019 (tense at the beginning but IO became pleasant after 10mins. Interview lasted 30 mins)
RFE in March 2019 mailed to me for a court document they needed.
Responded to RFE in May 2019.
    Renewed EAD in mid June.
EAD renewal approved and mailed to me in early August.
August 31 2019, Green card approved.
Sept 5 2019, green card mailed to me.
Sept 6 2019 received I130 and I485 (Receiving 10 yr green card per I485 notice)
Sept 6 2019, green card picked by USPS and tracking number provided.

The entire process was a little bit stressful and nerve wrecking but we never lost hope and we remained patient.

No lawyers involved. We used a paralegal that charged us $450 to prepare the documents.

Will update once I get my green card that should be delivered on Monday.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Congratulations! Were you place in immigration court for removal proceedings since you overstayed?

The person that did our application is an Immigration services center here in Atlanta. Most cities have them. Not sure which city you are in but here is a link that you can find one closest to you by entering your zip code.
