  • Question 1, Part 8, I-485

    Hello everyone
My interview has been scheduled at the end of January. I used a lawyer to file I-485 ( EB2). At that time they asked to complete a questionnaire where there was a question regarding my affiliations with groups, organization etc. The way it was phrased it was asking only about political and religious groups which does make sense.
However now after I carefully reviewed the actual question in I-485, quote: "Have you EVER been a member of, involved in, or in any way associated with any organization, association, fund, foundation, party, club, society, or similar group in the United States or in any other location in the world including any military service?" I am not sure that my filing was correct because I was a member of a chess club, I had a gym membership at YMCA, I was also automatically enrolled as a member of a scientific research society when I was attending a conference.
I will contact my lawyer regarding this issue after the Holidays but I also want to know your guys opinion.
    Thanks

Some people list only the most important club/association or a couple. I don't know the detail they want on that answer, will be relevant if I was the president of the student board in middle school?

The clubs you listed here aren't what they were referring. I believe they meant political affiliations and nothing you stated here is any of those.

The question is a catch all type question. You should list all clubs you belong to on the form and provide a piece of paper with your groups to the IO when you attend your interview. Most IOs do not ask or list for every group.
This is purely my opinion and does not constitute legal advice.
