  • Filing Joint Income Tax: Strange Issue

So AOS marriage based application is processing and we are going to file income tax jointly. However, I changed my name in my home country a while ago. I had an SSN already issued at that point. I tried to change the name in my SSN but that didn't happen. Now I'm out of status and in process of AOS. IRS says to fie it under the name SS Office has it. Can I go to a USCIS office regarding this? Will it affect negatively during my AOS interview that a new event is still under my old name?

File taxes under the name on your SS card and paystubs/W-2s/1099s. I never changed my last name in my home country (too long of a process and a bunch of BS paperwork), so my foreign passport has my maiden name on it while my SS card, EAD, DL and everything from the US have my married name.
