Hello,
on March 02, 2020, my I-485 status is being updated to interview was scheduled and as of today March 06 my I-765 status is updated to a new card is being produced. so is this common, I was thinking if the I-485 is already in the interview process I don't need the employment card authorization. and if I receive the card before the interview should I return it to the USICS the day of the interview?

USCIS process is a mystery. You don't need to return it but its good to bring it with you in case the officer asks for all documents/cards received.

Most of the time they don't issue the EAD if an interview is near, but maybe that is just a coincidence and the people working to approve the EAD are not the same as the interview/GC and that is why sometimes you get an EAD a few days/weeks before receiving the GC. I read one post that the EAD was delivered 2 days before the GC.
