  • Adjustment of Status Interview-family immigration- CSPA application

    Hi,
My uncle applied for a family immigration for us(more than 10 years ago) and we have our interview in a few weeks.

I am 22 now and I am covered under the CSPA rule.

I was arrested for possession of **** under 30grams in new jersey(along with a friend), fingerprinted but at the police station, my friend took all the rep for the drug and i never had to go to court for it.

In the first place, there is no way I can just tell my parents that I got arrested for a drug charge so in the "have you ever been convicted, arrested" question, I am writing no but at the interview, once I am under oath I will explain my situation to the interviewer.

So for this, I am really hoping that I get interviewed in a separate room without my family. Can anyone tell me if this will happen(Specially because of my age) or I could request for a private interview?

Our immigration lawyer said that the petitioner(my uncle) might have to be present at the time of the interview although he lives in a different state. Is that true and is this on a case to case basis or the petitioner always has to be there?

most importantly, will my interview rejection affect my familys interview status in any way?

Thank you! I really appreciate your time and typing in regards to replying this message.

      worried guy:

well. it sucks..but the truth is, yes...you have to put it on it.
      first thing you do>
go to the Police station and the report.
go to the court and get the judgement, make sure they certify that (some courts charge and some doesn't) if the court doesn't have anything against you, you are safe.

      have it ready.

i was arrested for couple of times...i did the smaething...! if

Do the right thing. Tell your immigration attorney immediately. The attorney will need to amend the I-485. The USCIS officer can look at this as lying in your form and its grounds for denial. This is serious. More so than having your family find out you were arrested.

When You go for an interview. The interviewer is not allowed taking interview him in a private room. You have ********* in your pocket and face the police. Then, you said all the truth in front of the interviewer. If you go for Canadian immigration then they may reject your visa.
