Hi,
My uncle applied for a family immigration for us(more than 10 years ago) and we have our interview in a few weeks.
I am 22 now and I am covered under the CSPA rule.
I was arrested for possession of **** under 30grams in new jersey(along with a friend), fingerprinted but at the police station, my friend took all the rep for the drug and i never had to go to court for it.
In the first place, there is no way I can just tell my parents that I got arrested for a drug charge so in the "have you ever been convicted, arrested" question, I am writing no but at the interview, once I am under oath I will explain my situation to the interviewer.
So for this, I am really hoping that I get interviewed in a separate room without my family. Can anyone tell me if this will happen(Specially because of my age) or I could request for a private interview?
Our immigration lawyer said that the petitioner(my uncle) might have to be present at the time of the interview although he lives in a different state. Is that true and is this on a case to case basis or the petitioner always has to be there?
most importantly, will my interview rejection affect my familys interview status in any way?
Thank you! I really appreciate your time and typing in regards to replying this message.
