Thanks Tibwa and danny32 - EAD and AP changed to approved today. Good that the timing worked, I'll now book my flights to my home country and work a few months from there

Regarding biometrics, has anyone contacted USCIS 90 days after receipt and if yes, what were you told?
On the bright side of things, it seems that the combo cards are approved pretty quickly after biometrics are taken

It will be a combo card. Your I-131 will update any day now.
