So thought I would share my interview experience as it was a little bit different from what I've read here and on other forums.

We've been together for 7 years, married for 6 (lived together in another country and here), no kids. Interview was in a field office in Miami.

Interview was scheduled for 12:30PM, we waited for about an hour before we got called by an officer. She asked where our lawyer is as we have one but decided not to hire him for the interview, the officer explained we need to sign a waiver. She then said I would need to leave as she needed to interview my husband first as he was petitioning for me.

He was in there for about 45min, I must admit I got a bit upset as it was just us and 2 more couples that got separated. None of us had lawyers, it could have been a coincidence of course but sharing my observation. Honestly, he could not remember all the questions he got asked as there were a lot, but some of them - tell me how much she's paid you and we can finish with this quickly?! (no need to say his answer to this question), my mother's and father's name, spell my mother's name, he explained to her he's not sure what the spelling in English is, my mom's name is complicated . There were some savings from my account from the country we lived before together that I had transferred to him last year as I did not have a bank account here yet (we used the money for the lawyer and the application ), the officer asked him about that several times (why I sent him the money). Got asked when and where we met and some other dates from our history together (like when we moved from one city to another back in 2017), if I've worked here...etc

He came out and I walked back in with the officer. She sat me down and asked me what name I want on the GC. My name is long and we decided it would be better to drop my middle name. She them passed me a sheet of paper and asked me to start writing down our history as she was asking the questions. By the end of it I had written 2 full pages (A4 format) with details from 2014 until now. Where, when and how we met (I only remember the month, not the dates, who I was with and he was with when we met, the name of the friend I was with, when we met again, have I met his parents/family, who was at our wedding (she asked me to identify people from some of the wedding photos later), specific dates after the wedding (like when we moved in together), when he started working back in 2016, name of company he worked for, why we moved to another city in 2017, about the move to the USA....basically our whole history. Sometimes she did not even wait for me to answer before asking the next question, it was not easy speaking and writing but I was not nervous at all - after all that is our story and I have no problem sharing it.
At the end she said it was going to be approved but not today as there was no time, asked me to sign a piece of paper for dropping my middle name and that is pretty much it.
As she was walking me outside, she called my husband again and asked him who he was with when we met back in 2014 - I guess to confirm what I had said to her.

We had brought some additional evidence but we did not get asked for absolutely anything - not even birth certificates or passports. We had sent a lot initially so that might be the reason why.

When we were driving back home, the status changed to name updated and card production, the following day changed to needs review and then again to case approved. Today it says it was picked up by usps.

I would say the officer was trying to intimidate my husband initially, not so much me but we both left the office smiling that afternoon (by the way we were last to leave, there was no one left there apart from the officers at the main entrance).

As long as you're saying the truth and the relationship is real, there is no reason to worry. After all, they are there to do their job and I guess have to ask tough questions.

    Good luck to all!

Congratulations! All's well that ends well. See you at the naturalization forum in a few years!!

I am trying to check DH's USCIS status, but am getting a "Could not authenticate your request" error message. Anyone else seen this?

DH is in second night of orientation, at the same place I work :-)

The only thing we needed for a green card was an official copy of my divorce decree from my first marriage. For some reason my attorney never gave that to me. USCIS received that today via Priority Mail. No update on status, yet.

My husband had his Change Of Status interview on 4/15. He already has his EAD, and is in the process of starting his first job. It's not been easy cooped up in an apartment for over a year, I'd imagine. On just my income we haven't really had much money to do anything, and he's been stressed for so long over this. We interviewed in Louisville, KY.

I received mine about a week later (following EAD). You could check by contacting SSA, they'd be able to tell you if one has been requested for you by giving them your USCIS#

I have received the notice in mail now, but a live agent can tell you the exact date as well as soon as your online status changes to interview scheduled.
