  • I-485/ AOS Interview request for the 2nd time (Employment Based)

    Hello friends,

I got a letter from the USCIS "Request for applicant to appear for Initial Interview". I have already been interviewed 2 years ago for my I-485. I never received any RFE. My congresswoman reached out to the USCIS 4 months ago and I don't know if that is why they scheduled an interview again.

What am I really confused about it is that it says 'initial interview'. Is this similar to Stokes Interview? I have an approved I-140 and I have renewed my EAD multiple times. My application is employment based (not marriage based)

Since my last post (I have my previous post linked here below), few things have happened. My company laid off over a 1000 employees due to Covid couple of months ago and I lost my job. Found a new job and started working. BUT the job title is entirely different although job responsibilities are similar.

Also, when I started my new job, I told my new company I don't need a sponsorship since I already had interviewed for my pending I-485 and have EAD in my hand. I am planning to hire a lawyer
    for my case now.

I was getting ready to submit I-485J supplement for AC21 Portability but now I received a letter for an interview. Here are my questions if you guys can help me.

    1) Any of you familiar with a good lawyer in San Jose, CA that I can consult with and also take him/her with me during my interview? I have been searching online but it's hard to find the one that I can trust.

    2) Do I still file I-485J before I go for my interview i.e. scheduled on 1st week of September? OR do I take I-485J with me during my interview?

    3) Since my job title is different, is this going to have an impact?

    4) Is this normal to have 2nd interview for employment based application? I have no criminal record or any sort of violations that I am aware of.

Please suggest me or provide information anything you know. I look forward to hearing from you guys.

    Thanks!!
