Hello,
I was wondering if anybody would be able to assess my situation. My wife and I have her Green Card interview on October 21st of this year.
Back in March we sent our I-485 packet with I-765 as well. I wanted to submit my tax returns married filing jointly but to do so we need to wait for her ssn to arrive, therefore we extended my 2020 tax return to hopefully be submitted by Oct 15th.
As time approaches with still haven't received her EAD card/ SSN number, therefor we can't file my 2020 taxes. However, we have received the Green Card appointment date. In the instructions it asks for my most recent tax return. I am still fully employed and the best I can do is bring several months of paystubs, an employer letter, and my 2020 W-2, along with my 2019 tax returns (which is my most recent).
Would anybody have any insight on how vital it is to have my 2020 tax return present during the interview or what can documentation could I bring to show that I have done my due diligence in attempting to file my return up to this point? Would not having my tax return present a big issue at the interview?
Thank you and any advice is appreciated.
