  • Name change on green card

    Hello,
I would like to know if anyone has experience changing name after they received their green card?
I already had my social security card before marriage, but I never changed my name for variety of reasons. Now I have my 2 year green card and I was going to wait until I apply for the 10 year one to change it but my husband insist I need to change my name now lol. From what I am getting I need to fill out for I 90 but wanted to see if anyone has experience and can share tips. Thanks

From what I understand you need to file I90, pay $540 (unless it was a DHS error) and send the documents that list that you changed your name (maybe your marriage certificate is enough).

You will need to remove conditions in 2 years (or less) and you will need to pay for that process too.

I guess most people will wait for the next step (remove condition) or even wait for the citizenship process.

Thanks for your response. Like I said in my post i was going to wait as well but my partner insist of changing it now. I am aware f the fees and the form i need to fell in. I am asking if someone has experience going through the process ? My main concern is timing of course and things I need to consider outside of the fee situation.
