I-485 Filed, EAD+Advance Parole Issued - Job change?

Hello,

My priority date was current and I-485 was filed in 2021. I received by EAD and advance parole in October 2022. I am still waiting for the I-485 to be approved and green card to be issued. I believe the next step is interview.

I am looking to change job as the current one is quite stagnant. I am curious if I am able to move to a different employer since I have the EAD. More importantly will this affect my I-485 approval?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I am assuming you are immigrating based on your company's I-140 employment-based petition or you wouldn't be asking this question? If your company withdraws the I-140, then since your I-485 has been pending for more than 180 days, as long as you continue to work in a similar job (whether it is on a work status like H1b or on your EAD), your I-140 and I-485 can continue to be processed and approved. USCIS may ask you to provide an I-485 Supplement J to prove that you are working in a similar job.

Is the I-485 Supplement J something the new employer will need to do or is that something I can do it myself may be with help of an attorney?
