I-485 Birth Certificate Query for Saudi Born Indian Citizen

Hi,

My spouse has birth certificate from Indian embassy Riyadh Saudi Arabia. I would like to know experience from a person who was in same situation and was there any issues getting approval for I-485 with embassy birth certificate.

If there were any issues due to embassy birth certificate, how did you resolve the issue?

See visa reciprocity and documents for Saudi Arabia. For birth certificate, they would need a birth certificate issued by Saudi authorities. Documents issued by an embassy are usually not accepted. In rare cases, if the parents don't have legal status in Saudi Arabia and can't get a Saudi birth certificate, they can get a documents from the embassy but it needs to be authenticated by the Saudi ministry of foreign affairs.

On USCIS site, I see alternate document for third country nationals who were born in Saudi Arabia who are unable to get birth certificate. I would like to know if anybody went through alternate document route. I see usually birth affidavits are signed by Parents or close relative. I did not understand clearly two affidavit of birth attested by lawyer or Saudi government entity. If anyone has followed this step, kindly, share affidavit sample copy and need help in know what to be done here.


Third country nationals born in Saudi Arabia who are unable to obtain birth certificates should provide two affidavits of birth attested by a Saudi government entity such as a government ministry, court, or neighborhood chief (Omdah), or a lawyer.
