Changing Wife's Last name before I-485 - Is it mandatory?

Hi

My priority date is about to get current sometime this year.
I am in H1B visa.
My wife is also on H1B. She does not have my last name anywhere in the documents (Passport, Visa, Birth Certificate from India, SSN, payroll, Drivers license, Bank accounts).
We have marriage certificate with last name and her last name.

I am including my wife also in I-485 application. So, is it mandatory to change her last name before applying for I-485?

If yes, what are the mandatory documents that needs to be changed/updated/reissued?

Can i avoid this changing..?

I did not change my wife's last name. I don't think it is necessary too - my attorney did not warn me either.
