I-131 Travel before GC

Hello,
Does anyone have any experience with traveling with I-131 outside the USA while waiting on GC interview...Our attorney told us there is the new law on the power since last year and that should not be a problem ...but we are still little afraid ...

I'm currently 'out of status'... so would that make problem for re-entry?
