I am among those who have been randomly selected for further processing for the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program for the fiscal year 2013 and I arranged with the KCC to schedule my visa interview around the end of June and hopefully going to the state as soon as I get my visa. I intend to do a professional exams in accountancy in Ireland around September 2013 and just wondering would be possible to leave the US once received my green card and how long it takes to get it processed once arrived to the US? Am I eligible to apply for the re-entry permit due to my short period of stay in the country? This is a big dilemma for me right now, because I really want to start this course in September next year and don't want to lose the opportunity of getting this green card. Your help is so much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

You can leave immediately after getting the I551 stamp at the airport which will be your permanent residence proof for 1 year. You will also likely receive the actual card a few weeks after your arrival. You can apply for a re-entry permit immediately, too. You'll just need to do that when you're in the US, stay for the biometrics appointment 3-4 weeks later, and then you can receive it in Ireland.
