Travel to India

Hi,

I got my GC in Feb 2012 thru my husband, who is the primary applicant. I traveled to India for almost 5 months from 14-Feb-2012 and returned to US on 10-July-2012. My husband was in US all these months. I plan to travel again to India on either 10-Jan-2013 or 16-Jan-2013 for about 3-4 months and come back in April/May 2013. My husband would not be travelling with me.

Please let me know if it is safe for me to travel .
1. I know there are restrictions that a GC holder should not be out of country for more than 6 months in given year but since I would be travelling in 2013, would it be okay for me to travel?
2. Also considering that there are 184 days between 10-July-2012 (when I returned to US) and 10-Jan-2013 / 190 days between 10-July-2012 and 16-Jan-2013; which date would you advise me to book my ticket for?

Your intended dates of travel are fine. You are a dependent of your husband, and you are not working, I assume, so there is nothing suspicious about your travel pattern. About 6 months in, and 3-5 months out is ok. You MIGHT have hassles when you apply for citizenship, but the chance of this is low.
