Green Card - ReEntry validity extention

Resp. sir/Madam,

I am from India. My Monther(70 yrs. old) is Green Card holder. At present she is in India. Anyhow she has to travel US before 20th March'13. But at present she is not well and unable to travel. My query is : Is there any ways to extend her Green Card reentry date?
Pl. guide us as early as possible.

Green Card - ReEntry validity extention

It is not possible to renew a reentry permit; however it is possible to apply new reentry permits upon expiration of the previous reentry permits being able to stay abroad for several years. However the application process has to be started every time while physically present in the U.S.

Contact the US embassy/consulate. After that date, your mother will need a returning resident visa. It'd be good to check now to see if she'd qualify for it later.
