  • 4 years away, checking my options

First of all, I'd like to thank you in advance for helping me out.
I used to be a permanent resident in the US for 7 years, I left the country in a temporary basis 4 years ago (my mother was really sick with cancer I've being taking care of her until her death). I haven’t travel back to the US to maintain my status due this personal situation. I was planning to stay about one year and then apply for a re-entry permit. However, my financial situation got pretty bad once I moved here, and I wasn’t able to do anything, nor travel or start doing paperwork. However, after these 4 years my economic situation is pretty good right now.
I'm still married with my American wife (haven't done that paperwork yet), we have a good friendship but we're not a couple anymore, and I don't feel comfortable asking her to start the whole process again. We used to have a real relationship and I don’t feel it right since I don’t think we’re going to get back together. Even thought, I really think she’ll be pleased to help me out, I’d like to avoid this option.
My intentions are not to move back to the US (at least for now), but I’d like to visit the country in a regular basis. Most of my friends are overseas and I’d like to go over there once in a while to visit them.
In the other hand, I’m running a business here in Europe, and we’re having a high demand from European companies to enter in the American market (which we’re doing it right now sending my associates overseas and not traveling myself due this situation).
I already asked the US embassy in my country, and they gave three options:
    - Ask my wife to apply for a new immigrant visa for me (starting the whole process all over again)
    - Apply for a SB1 visa, which I’m pretty sure it’ll be denied since taking care of a familiar is not a valid reason to leave the country more than 2 years.
    - Renouncing my permanent resident status to be able to re-enter the country as a tourist.
Apparently, the third option is a winner if I can visit the US without having problems. I’d like to know if this option is reasonable and if I won’t have problems traveling over there a couple of times a year.
In the other hand, I don’t know if there’d be problems in the future if I want to apply to any other type of visa. For example, since we’re working with american companies in a regular basis, we’re studying the possibility to set up a branch in the US. There’s a couple of visas that could help us to work in the US (I’m talking about the L1 visa)
Do you think if in the future I apply for one of these visas, it could be revoked due the fact I’m a former permanent resident?
    I really appreciate your help.

    Thank you.
