I arrived for the first time in the US last Oct 2013. I was in the US for only 17 days. I left the US without my actual green card. I'm currently outside the US and will only come back to the US in May 2014. By the time I step on US soil in May 2014, I will have been outside the US for around 5 months and 20 something days. I will make sure that my stay outside the US will not reach 6 months.
After a few weeks from May 2014, I plan to go outside the US again. Will I need a reentry permit the second time I go outside the US? Will there be any complications? My reason is to finish my studies.
For ease of reference, here is my timeline:
Oct 23, 2013 - 1st time in US as permanent resident
Nov 9, 2013 - Left US (total # of days in US: 17)
May 6, 2014 - Arrive US (total time outside US: 5 months 27 days)
June 6, 2014 - Leave US
Nov 6, 2014 - Arrive US (total time outside US: 5 months)
Thanks
