Employment GC and travel to Canada after layoff?

It's been over six months since my POE and I was laid off last week (the day after receiving my plastic card!).

I'm planning to travel to Canada to see friends in Toronto and crossing the border by car at Detroit-Windsor.

Will there be any issues returning to the US on an employment GC now that I have been laid off?

Has anyone out there done this recently?
