Hi,
I'm a GC holder (through family reunion) for about 1.5 years. My siblings live in the US for about 6 month.
In order to complete my profession, which I started before I got the GC, I need to intern overseas for 2 years starting this year.
Since I got the card, I visited the US once a year, and reported my taxes as a student. Also I hold an active bank account in the US.
I understand that I can ask for a reentry permit while I'm staying in the US, and plan to do so this summer.
If I get the permit, and want to visit my family for a couple of weeks, is that mean my permit expired after I enter the US (let's say a year after I ask the permit)?
Also, if the officer finds that I abandoned my PR status, what is the procedure? Although I'm planning to finish my study (+internship) and move permanently to the US.
