Travel With Temporary I-551 Stamp on Original Passport

I have temporary stamp "Processed for I-551" on my original passport after form I-751 is approved and it is valid until May 2006. I believed that my green card was mailed to the old address and it was lost. I'm in the process of applying for the new Green Card (using form I-90).
Can I travel to my original country and come back to the US with that passport and the temporary stamp?
Will I have any problem with the transit airlines?
I plan to visit my home country this holidays and I may not get the new green card before that time.

Yes, you can use that passport stamp. It is as good as plastic green card for travel purposes. Make sure your passport stamp does not expire before you come back.

Yes, I know. Coming back to the US with that temporary stamp on the passport is not a problem with the US custom. However, my primary concern is with the transit airlines. Would they allow me to board on the USA bound flights?

i need a an answer with my question.. when i travel here in the philippines to visit with my family i used a temporary stamp but no problem with a homeland security in the USA... my problem, can i travel back to the USA just only a temporary stamp... when i have an interview they said, they will send my tempory green card in the mail... but im waiting before i travel in the philippines... i need an answer coz im afraid i cant come back to the USA with my husband... thanks alot..
