Retaining the green card urgent help required

Hi everyone
My husband abandoned me and my son here in India and now the confusion is do I have to visit usa every 6 months? Is it a wise step to surrender the green card or do I have any other option. Please let me know .it is really urgent.

If you remain outside the U.S. or a year or more, and don't have a Reentry Permit, your Green Card status will be considered abandoned.

There is no "visit every six months" requirement.

But you do need to decide whether you intend to maintain your U.S. Green Card status. You can't use the Green Card as a visitor visa forever, without eventually being told at the Port of Entry that your Green Card status might be revoked.
