Abandonment of Green Card

Need help and advise here!
I received my green some 14 - 15 years ago, but have never entered the US
since. I wish to abandon my green card and instead, apply for a
non-immigrant visa to travel to the US for business meetings. In Immihelp
website, it mentioned couple of methods in abandoning my green card....you
also mention that if one has not entered the US for a long time, may also
mean that the green card is being abandoned unintentionally. How long would
that period be and is there any possible way for me to check if my green
card is in fact being abandoned unintentionally already? Thanks.
