  • Can I use my re-entry permit to enter USA, even with an expired green card

I have a re-entry permit that is valid until 2018 but my green card will expire in October this year. In the event that I am unable to renew my green card, will I still be able to enter the US based on the re-entry permit? I searched through these forums but didn't find a similar question.

    Thanks

Yes, It is okay to travel as long as your REP is valid. I have done that.

The problem that I faced was at a connecting airport in Rome, the helpdesk out there was confused and took plenty of time to issue a boarding pass.

Do you have a 10 year green card or a conditional 2 year card?

You can enter the US with your Re-Entry Permit and expired green card. However, the airlines may not let you fly. Make sure you clear things with the airlines.
