  • Reentry in the US

Hi, I was a permanent citizen from 2003 to 2010. I gave back my green card to the American embassy in London in 2012 but I never received a confirmation that my green card was annuled. But this isn't the issue. I would like to travel back to the US with my family this year and I would like to know if it would be possible to avoid any stressful situations at the airport. My only concern is on the tax level. I left in 2010 without filing my tax return (I received a small sum of money from a divorce, nothing big). I don't think it would be an issue but I just want to make sure.

    Thank you in advance.

You are not a US citizen. The only way to absolutely avoid any stress at the US port of entry is to avoid traveling to the United States in the first place

If your failure to file (and possibly pay) taxes is bothering you, then go ahead and file (and pay if needed) late
