Green card holder (10 years)

Hello, My uncle sponsored my family and we have greencard on arrival( 10 years).. ( mom, dad, little bro 10 yr, and myself - currently 21). My question is if my dad were to leave the country and stay there perm. ..would this affect status of my mom and myself or my brothr to obtain citizenship?. We just want to weight our options because my dad would like to retire elsewhere...even if dropping green card status. Please advise. Thank you very very much
