Traveling with Asylum Green Card

Hi,
Hopefully someone can help me.

My wife got her green card from political asylum, is it ok for her to travel to her originating country to visit her family?

If it's ok, should she use her country's passport or her US travel document to do so?

I am concerned that her country's gov might take her travel document or green card from her.
