  • Greencard and divorce. Pls, HELP!

    Hi.

I have earnerd my green card via the Lottery program, and my spouse also got one since I was selected.

Our marriage is kinda on the rocks right now and I wanted to know how it would work for her in terms of maintaining the greencard in case we do get separated ?? Also, if we indeed get separated and in the future I want to re-marry, is this something that I could do? If I meet someone from another nationality could I sponsor the greencard to a new spouse?

We got married in another country 1 year prior moving to the US and winning the green card lottery. We have been married for 5 years now and with the green card since 2003.

Thank you for any information that anyone can give me.

:cool HI BOSTON, IF YOU ALREADY HAVE YOUR PERMANENT RESIDENT CARD, NOT CONDITIONAL, YOU CAN DIVORCED AND IT WILL NOT AFECT YOUR WIFES LEGAL STATUS, AND YOU CAN RE-MARRY, AS LONG AS YOU CAN SHOW INMIGRATION THAT YOUR NEW MARRIAGE IS BONA FIDE AND NOT TO EVADE INMIGRATION LAWS..
