  • Green Card Expiration

    Hi All,

Many years ago I lived in the U.S. with my family and had a green card (resident alien card) issued to me allowing me to live and work in the U.S. I no longer live in the U.S. at present, however I still have the card.

The card I was issued has no expiration date on it whatsoever. I am wondering, is this card permanent? If not, how do I find out if it has expried as there is no date of issue or expiry on it.

    Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Youre required to maintain US residence to maintain the validity of the card. Although it has no expiry date, its only vaild for 10 years and because you made no steps to safeguard your US residence, ( filing reentry permits, paying taxes etc,) you have lost US residency, even though youre still in possession of the card.
