What to do if I travel out the U.S with the Green Card

I want to go back to my country (Vietnam) in May 2007, So, if I returning to the U.S without the Re-entry Permit of the U.S, but I use my GREEN CARD, do I have anything wrong with that? or I have to do it before I leaving the U.S?

Please help and tell me what to do if I travel out the U.S with the Green Card

You can enter back again with your green card. You don't require reentry permit.

Could you please tell me where did you get the news from about reentry permit. I am getting so many emails from Vietnamese people regarding this. I am not sure who is spreading rumors.
