Rentry Question - Urgent

Hi

I left the USA in June 2005 to India , I have a 2 year re-entry permit. I am working for a well known top US based telecommunications company in India. I did not visit or enter USA after I left in 2005. I had to come down to India due to family reasons. I have heard that the GC can be maintained or kept active by the employer in India even if you are not travelling to the USA. Can any body shed some light on this or is it absolutely necessary to travel down to the USA to maintain the PR/GC. Is it advisable to again apply for a re-entry permit? Please help. I have my re-entry valid until July 2007.

ur GC status will be valid...and u will be allowed to enter usa...

...as long as ur re-entry permit is valid. However, you have lost your "continuous resident" and "perm" status which is required for applying for citizenship. You will have to work harder to prove that you have not broken the perm/cont residence status b4 applying for citizenship. Check immihelp's docs for further info.

I have no idea how an employer can keep any1's GC status alive...
