    Hi,

I got my GC on September 6, 2007.
I want to go back to India around June 2008 timeframe for good but don't want to surrender the GC. In case my kids couldn't adjust and I have to come back hence want to keep GC active.

As one year won't be complete by June 2007 N470 can't be applied.

Now what options I have to keep my GC active? Till how long? What papers I need before I leave USA.

    I much appreciate the answer.

    Thanks.

Leaving to india for good, makes your GC void, and any claims made (like other people receiving benefits from it) can be revoked once USCIS determines that when you left the USA, you left for good.

you can be gone from the USA up to 2 years, with an I-131. But you must not engage in activities that would break your LPR status.

          Thanks for quick answer.

Can you explain "activities that would break your LPR status" little bit?
Is working in India falls in this catagory?

          Thanks.

Yes. You can not take up employment.

Also, failing to file US taxes, you should know all these things.
