  • What to do to retain our GC

    Hi all,

We have got our GC in 2004. My son is citizen of US. My husband works in US. Now his employer is asking him to take some responsibility but he need to go to india office and work there for 2yrs. Since its a very good opportunity for my husband we would like to take this. But the concern is GC. we don't want to loose the GC. My husband will be getting the US pay even though he is going to be in India for 2 years. We will be paying the tax as well. and we have a house in US which we are thinking of giving it for rent till we come back. In this situation, if we stay in India for 2 yrs, can we retain our US status? Does anybody had gone thro' this experience? what to do in this situation to maintain our status in US? Please help.

      retaining GC

      Thanks for the link.
But I need one more clarification. As I said earlier, my husband employer wants to send my husband for 2 years to India office with reentry permit. They are going to pay US salary. We are maintaining bank a/c here and we are giving for rent our house in US. But what about myself. I too have GC. If I join my husband while going back to india for 2 yrs, does it effect my GC? If I take reentry permit then does I have a pblm when returning at the end of 2yrs.

      Let me know.
      Thanks
