Need help retaining greencard

I came back home to Canada as my daughter was having emotional issues I took a job up there to remain close to her. Let just says I been kept busy and realized I forgot to file the paperwork for my greencard. I have been here since Dec 2007. Have I lost my greencard as i still have all my US identity? I even got out of forclosure of my house yayyyyyyy me Anyways if I have not how do I retain my greencard and hopefully move back to the US? I thinking of keeping job in canada and living in Niagara falls NY until the kid is OK. I worked hard for the greencard and it is worth alot to me. I am trying to be a good father but also be respectful to US laws with regards to the greencard.

See an immigration lawyer. Taking a job outside the US can be construed as giving up GC.
