Hi,

I just have a couple questions regarding green card replacement. I am a marriage based green card holder. Iʼve just lost green card (2-year green card) not long ago. I have also applied for the 10-year green card in June, and they already sent me the extension for one year while in the process of getting the 10-year green card. Now I want to apply for a green card replacement. I have read through the procedures for doing so. However, I will be traveling out of the country this Christmas, which is within 3 months. I was wondering if thereʼs any possible way I can get a temporary green card replacement for my traveling. As I know, they say I can get a stamp on my passport as an evidence indicates that I filed for a replacement. However, I am not American citizen, and I donʼt have a passport. I had a Vietnamese passport (Iʼm still Vietnamese citizen, American permanent resident) but itʼs expired. If you have any suggestion or advice for my situation, please please let me know. I suggest that you first renew your Vietnamese passport and then get a greencard stamp in your passport.

Thank you for responding to my email. As you may suggest, i should get my passport renewed then get it stamped. However, I've also misplaced my passport together with the green card which was no where to be found (I know this sounds really bad.. =( ). Therefore, i cant really getmy passport stamp while applying for a replacement. they have sent me an extension for my 2-year green card while waiting for the 10-year one. i was just wondering if you have any idea how long it may take for me to recieve the 10-year green card (i applied in June), and also if i apply for the replacement right now, would i get it by the time of Christmas? or is there any alternative way i could do in this case? thank you so much and i hope you have a wonderful day.

If you have lost your passport, file a police report and apply for replacement passport.
