my mom got her green card about 8 months back and she has been in usa since than.my problem is now she need to go back and can not travel back and forth every six months because of health problem. is there any way she can get extension base on that? and if there is what is the procedure for that? some one was telling me that even if she gets an extension all her stay for this 8-10 months will not count when she applies for citizenship. Is it true?
    thanks in advance

    The main point is ...

... what's the use of this permanent residency? She will not be able to maintain the GC anyway. Sooner or later you need to decide whether she remains in the US and maintains her GC or not.

You do have a choice if she lives in the US for five years, to file for US citizenship and then she can permanently settle in her home country if she so wishes.

Never a good idea to file for parents' GCs if they're not willing to live in the US.

    Take care.
