  • Green card

    Hi all,

I got my green card (family based) & had been to USA in June 08. I came back home on Dec 08. Pl help me answering the following questions.

    1. Is it possible for me to surrender the green card & obtain visit visa (B1) ?

    2. If not can I enter USA within 12 months of my last visit i e within Dec,09 ? Some friends say, I must enter within 6 months.

    Thanks.

You must permanently reside in the USA.

That is what the GC is for!

I know green card is meant for permanent living in USA.

Unfortunately, I am now not in a position to live in USA permanently. I would also not like to abuse green card by going to USA in every 6 months. That's why, I wanted to know if I can surrender the Green card at the US Embassy of my home country & apply for visit Visa (B1)
      Pl asdvise.
