Retaining Green Card without expiration date

This is regarding my brother’s green card validity, He was issued green card in 1985, It has no expiration date. Now brother got b2 visitor’s visa for 10 yrs multiple entries. He is now in USA and at the Airport immigration people did not ask for his green card as well as at Bombay consulate. Now what are the chances of his green card and Social Security card being renewed.

He applied for a visitor visa, his GC (expired) he was supposed to renew it a couple of years ago when they declared those GCs invalid... even so, he probably has been gone from the USA for quite a few years, which meant he lost his PERMANENT resident status.

A GC was made so people could LIVE in the USA.

Your brother is a VISITOR, he must return home before his i-94 expires (usually within 6 months) and he is NOT entitled, nor authorized to work.
